Three Traits of a Superior Hardwood Floor Repair

Posted by Writer - May 14, 2015 - Hard Wood Flooring

Repairing hardwood floors is all about restoring value and beauty to the surface, without detracting from the floor itself. It can be a tricky procedure to replace a section of flooring that has become damaged or to pinpoint areas that need to have work done… but it’s even trickier to make it look like the original! Take a look at three traits that define a superior hardwood floor repair:

  1. New sections of flooring should have the same grain pattern as the existing sections around them. Often, people believe that a matching finish is enough, but grain pattern can stand out if it doesn’t mesh with the original flooring.
  2. Floorboards should be replaced in strips, not sections. Having a square section of new flooring is going to be immediately noticeable, over a few boards that have been entirely replaced.
  3. The type and hue of wood should be the same, along with the finish that’s applied to the wood itself. Keeping these things uniform will make new boards indistinguishable from the existing flooring.

To avoid hardwood floor repair that sticks out like a sore thumb, make sure you’re having a talented professional perform your repairs and be sure to look for the three traits above.
